Keep a watch on the water level; it should not go below the cut portion of the potato.
Carrots are as simple and easy to grow, like potatoes. Make sure that the carrot that you are using is green. Cut the bottom end of the carrot and place it in a bowl or a plate. Make sure that the cut portion faces the surface of the container. Pour in enough water, to cover the cut portion. Ensure that the carrot doesn’t dry. In a week’s time, you will observe growth.
Avocados are simple to grow too. All you need to do is get hold of the avocado seed. Prick in a toothpick to support it when putting it into a jar of water. Place the seed in such a way that the bottom part remains in the water. Unlike potatoes and carrots, avocados can take weeks and even a month to grow. After you see the seed bearing leaves and roots, you can place the seed in a bigger container. Make sure that the seed is not buried too deep. You should be able to see the seed above the surface at all times.
It is advisable for kids gardening projects to begin with indoor planting first, as they are easy. It is better if they perform these activities under the supervision of their parents or any elderly person.
Nowadays, there are stores that supply gardening tools only for kids. These tools can be used in the classroom as well. They are very easy to handle and are not a cause of concern for parents.
