How to build hydroponics

Step by Step Guide to Building Your Own Hydroponics System which you can also apply to Hydroponics for Kids

What you will need for how to build hydroponics:

Seeds, Oasis cubes, Two dark colored plastic 5 gallon tubs with lids, Individual plastic planters, Hydroponics fertilizer, Epsom salts, Calcium nitrate, Vermiculite, Perlite, Coconut fiber, External aquarium pump, Air tubing, Waterproof caulking, Fluorescent light

If you are making a hydroponic system, preparing your starter Hydroponics Basil or any plants (Steps 1-2) It takes two weeks for seedlings to grow.

Step 1 Plant each seed into an Oasis cube.

Step 2 Set each cube in a dish of water. Don't let the cubes dry out!

Creating your diy hydroponics system growing environment (Steps 3-5)

Step 3 Spray the 5 gallon tubs and lids with vinegar to kill harmful bacteria. Rinse vinegar with soap and water. The tubs should be dark in color to protect the nutrient solution from the light. Algae needs light to grow. If allowed, algae will consume your plant's nutrients.

Step 4 Measure the diameter near the top of the planters. Cut two rows of circular holes into a tub lid (should be cut by an adult). Leave four inch spaces between the holes.

Step 5 In how to build hydroponic , fit the lid onto the tub and slip a planter into each hole. The roots will end up suspended near the top.

Mixing the Nutrient solution (Steps 6-8)

Step 6 Fill your 5 gallon tub with water to four inches from the rim.

Step 7 To prepare the nutrient solution, dissolve into a cup of water: 1 teaspoon of Epsom salts 1 teaspoon calcium nitrate 2 teaspoons of hydroponic fertilizer

Step 8 Add solution to the water in your 5 gallon tub

Your question may be how do l set up hydroponic system ,by adding the growing medium (Steps 9-10) The growing medium is the environment that the roots or Hydroponic Strawberries grow in.

Step 9 Mix equal parts of the vermiculite, the perlite and the coconut fiber. Vermiculite retains water, perlite increases aeration and coconut fiber holds oxygen.

Step 10 Fill each of the individual planters you've placed in the tub lid with the growing medium. Nestle each cube with its seedling into the growing medium.

Choosing a hydroponic system method

Using the non-circulating system (Steps 1-10) To grow Hydroponic lettuce, plant lettuce seeds in step 1, continue through step 10, and in four to five weeks you'll be enjoying your own lettuce!

Using the reservoir method (steps 1-13) Most plant roots need oxygen or they will drown. This method uses a pump to constantly add oxygen to the water.

Step 11 Cut an additional hole for the air tube into the tub's lid.

Step 12 Run the tube from the pump through the hole and into the bottom of the tub.

Step 13 Turn on the pump.

For easy hydroponic plans using the flood and drain method (steps 1-10 and 14-17)

Step 14 Cut holes three inches from the bottom in the sides of the growing medium and in additional tub, which will act as the reservoir.

Step 15 Run the tubing from one tub to the other. Use caulking around the tubing to make the holes watertight.

Step 16 Arrange two shelves, one 2 feet higher than the other.

Step 17 Place the growing medium on the higher shelf and it will drain into the reservoir. Reverse their positions to flood the growing medium.

How to build hydroponic requires light. The best lighting for your plants would be direct sunlight through a window. If this is not a possibility, hang a fluorescent light a few feet above them. And that is how you build your hydroponics.
