It’s very easy to create your own organic matter. The leaves that your trees shed daily are useful for making compost. You can add all your kitchen waste to the compost bin along with the dried grass and other dried vegetables for your organic potato gardening.
Organic potatoes need to be planted in a well-drained system and requires a lot of moisture. When you take on organic main potatoes gardening, dig the ground and remove all the weeds and debris, rocks from it. Loosen the soil.
Plant the organic potato seeds in rows at a distance of 21/2 to 3 ft. Before planting the potato seeds, add a lot of organic matter.
Remember too much of compost will be harmful to the plant, so put in a balanced amount of organic matter. Take care that the soil is not at all soggy or wet and the moisture is evenly spread around the plant. Also make sure that the soil is not water logged or this condition will spoil the growth of the plant.
If you are planting the organic potatoes in a small space, you can put a small potato seed in a place where it will get enough sunlight and warmth. After the seeds sprout you can place them in the soil with balanced organic matter.
Organic potato gardening require a lot of sunlight to produce a good crop. If you are planting the potatoes in a row, maintain enough distance between the plants, as this will allow proper growth of the plant.
Create a good layer of the organic matter in the soil. Only that much matter should be put, as is required by the plant to grow. You can refer to soil test kits to ensure how much organic matter you need to feed the plants. Too much of organic matter can cause certain bacterial infection to the plant. Pour enough water on the plant, especially in summer. Care has to be taken that the plant does not run out of moisture. If the plant receives less water, it may not be able to produce good and healthy potatoes.
