Lawn Fertilization:best fertilizer for a lawn

The process of lawn fertilization, best lawn fertilizer, and selecting the best time, type of fertilizer and rate of fertilization like nitrogen fertilizer lawn ,organic fertilizers lawns, phosphorus lawn fertilizer, much fertilizer lawn depends on several things.

You have to take the type of grass into consideration, the climate, how lush you want your lawn and the fertilizer.

If you wonder how often should the lawn be fertilized, most people find that fertilizing the lawn at least 4 times a year is satisfactory and 5 times, a little better. There are two types of grass. One type grows best in the spring and early fall and is a grass for the cool season and Northern areas. The second type loves the heat so it is a warm weather grass. You fertilize the two types of grass at different times.

Lawn Care Fertilization

Fertilizing your lawn should take place on the cool climate grass right before its growing season just as you would warm climate grasses. Any fertilizer you apply when the grass is dormant or going into dormancy will feed the weeds in the lawn and waste the fertilizer.

Since the growing phase for cool weather grass starts in the spring after the winter dormant stage, fertilize it heavily then and apply another heavy amount when it grows rapidly in the fall after the heat dies down. If you fertilize five times a year try to do it late February or early March, April to May, July, September and the end of October or early November.

The warm weather grass receives several applications in the early to late spring but also in the late summer months. You need to put more fertilizer on in the spring application than you do in the late summer. Youll use many of the same dates for warm weather grass fertilization but instead of July for the third application, fertilize this grass in June.

What Type of Fertilizer Should You Use?

Nitrogen is necessary for lawns and lawn fertilizer contains nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. The best type of fertilizer depends on your belief system and simply what you like. There are time-release fertilizers that slowly work into the soil and eliminate the need to fertilize as often.

You can get quick release fertilizer so your lawn receives immediate benefit. Dry granular fertilizer is easiest to apply but volleys for that position with a liquid lawn fertilizers as long as you have a water source and hose.

The liquid fertilizer is immediately available to the lawn. Organic fertilizer is preferred by some require a lot of skill to make the application effective because of their unpredictability.

Fall Lawn Fertilization

The best time to make sure theres plenty of fertilizer on your lawn is the fall. Its good because the heat of the summer disappears and the grass needs to get more nutrients it used during the heat. Even though cool weather grass looks like it stopped growing, the roots remain active as it prepares for the next season.

The fertilizer for lawns Process

The process for lawn fertilization depends on the type of fertilizer you use. If you use granular fertilizer, then you need a method to broadcast the fertilizer. Liquid fertilizer simply needs a spray bottle and a hose. When you fertilize in the fall, many authorities feel that the best type to use is the slow release formula.
