Steps to Making a Garden
Soil Checking
Soil checking is extremely important when creating a new garden. You need to check the pH of your soil to tell you its acidity or alkalinity level. The pH level affects how easily your plants can absorb necessary nutrients. Also check the soil texture. It might be rocky, sandy, heavy clay or if you are lucky – sandy loam. You can improve the texture of the soil with organic matter such as manure or compost.
Preparing the Bed
Learning how to prepare a garden is as much about hard work as pleasure. You probably can't wait until your garden is a riot of color but you need to put the hard work in too. You need to clear any weeds or grass on the area where you want to plant. You might want to add organic matter at this point to enrich the soil in the bed. Starting off with good soil means you won't have to add as much artificial fertilizer once your plants have begun to grow.
Choosing What to Grow
If you are starting small (which you should be, if you are a beginner gardener!) you should choose a few different things but no more. If you are growing vegetables, choose some which you enjoy eating.

Watering Your Plants

If the roots are densely packed, you can gently tease them apart. You don't need to press down hard on plants .
Corn
takes up a lot of room and stays in the ground for a long time before it is ready to pick.
Flower
gardens are often more difficult than vegetable gardens. See what your neighbors are successfully growing and ask them for tips (or even cuttings!) if you can. Read the plant labels in your local garden center and find a few different plants you like the look of. As you discover steps to making a garden, you need to limit yourself to 2 or 3 different plant types. When they bloom successfully, you can then add to your garden bit by bit.when putting

in the beds. The act of watering will settle them. In the process of learning how to start a garden ,make sure all your plants receive an inch of water each week. You might have to water more if the weather is very hot.
