Gardening Tomato on Patio

What yu need for gardening tomato on patio

Homegrown tomatoes are often very tasty, fresh and juicy than the ones that you get in the market. It’s a myth that you require a big yard or a huge space to grow tomatoes, gardening tomato on patio may be just what you need.

All tomato lovers can easily grow tomatoes in your balcony or a patio. Although the tomatoes are small in size, they are tasty like that of the original tomatoes. Patio tomatoes usually bear smaller vines and do not require much of space. Tomatoes don’t only offer good taste in food but, if they are planted well, they can improve the décor of your house as well.

Before starting your tomato gardening on the patio, you need to consider the space you want to use. Plan on how you will use the area in every season. When considering the space, keep the weather in mind. Remember the weather challenges and how it affects your patio and then choose a place for planting tomatoes. Spring is the best time to start growing tomatoes.

Once you have decided on the space you can choose a good container. Remember that when gardening tomato on patio the size of the container should match the space on the patio. If the space is small enough, do not use huge containers as it can spoil the look of your patio. If you chose a decorative container, it will not only give a great look to the plant but also your patio or balcony. You can use a hanging tomato planter. A large variety of planters are available. You can choose one according to your choice.

Gardening of tomatoes on a patio adds lot of style to the entrance and the house. The fragrance leaves you feeling good about sitting in the patio. When you buy the tomato seedling, make sure you don’t buy the regular tomato plant. They grow well only in proper gardens.

You can plant the seedling in a hanging planter. You can use a planter that can hold a single plant. You can germinate the seed in the planter or you can transplant a tomato plant.

You can hang the planter on a hook above, so that the plant gets enough space to grow. There is an advantage of using hanging planters; the plant will not be affected by the soil borne diseases. Planting the tomatoes in planters does not involve much hassle.

There are ‘upside’ planters used for growing tomatoes on the patio. The topsy turvy planter holds only one plant. Once you place the plant in the planter wait for it to grow several inches tall. Then you can hang the planter. Before hanging the planter care must be taken to ensure that the roots are strong enough. The plant does need lot of water, but you can take care of that although it’s hanging, by covering it properly.

To give even better look to your patio, you can plan an upside down tomato garden. The planter is rectangle in shape and its base is filled with water or sand to give it better support. The planter has five poles for more support. The tomatoes are inserted in this planter and grow up side down. This looks great on a patio.
