Gardening tips and trick

Gardening tips and trick is what l call first aid for a gardener.Gardeners are very resourceful and a lot of their work and creations depend on trial and error, time, observation, research and experience. They create wonders by using all these. Various gardening tips and tricks have helped gardeners through their jobs. Below are some gardening tricks that can help you with your garden:

Salt deposits formed on clay pots can be removed by spraying a combined mixture of an equal amount of white vinegar, alcohol and water. This mixture can be applied on the clay pots and then scrubbed with a plastic brush. The pot should dry completely before a new sapling is planted.

To prevent dirt from getting into your fingernails while gardening, you can draw your fingernails through a bar of soap that will effectively seal your undersides of the nail, so that dirt does not seal beneath your fingernails. Then once you finish with the garden work, you can use a nailbrush to remove the soap thus ensuring that your nails are sparkling clean.

If you wish to prevent the line on your string trimmer from breaking or getting jammed, then treat the trimmer with vegetable oil to become smoother, then install it inside the trimmer.

You can use a long handled measuring stick by placing the stick on the ground and then using a measuring tape you can either mark it with a permanent marker, or mark inches or footmarks on the handle. This way you can measure the space required to plant certain seedlings.

For garden twine, you need to stick a ball of twine in a clay pot and pull an end through the drainage hole. This will set the pot on the ground in the garden. Similarly, take care of the other end and then you will never have to look for twine again.

Clay pots usually are the best way to protect juvenile plants from sudden environmental changes like overnight frost.

If you wish to convert your clay pots into hose guides, then you need to roughly place one-foot length steel bar all around the corner of the bed and then slide two clay pots over it one pot facing downwards and one facing upwards. This way you can prevent your plants from falling when you pull the hosepipe along the bed.

You can name the plants by using permanent marker, or you can mark various sizes flat stones and then place them close to the base of the plants.

You can remove aphids with a strong hose water blast or scrub the pot with insecticidal soap. You can also try to wrap your hands within a tape that’s wide and then pat the infested leaves.

Don’t waste the water in which vegetables are boiled, as it is high in nutritional value. Pour it over the potted plants and you will be amazed to how your plants take in this vegetable soup!! You can also do the same with leftover tea, or vegetable peels.
